      Torch Together Coordinator

      Is this you? - We are looking for the right person to plan and deliver a programme of virtual and in-person events and holidays that provide Torch clients with an opportunity to gather for fellowship, fun, relaxation and spiritual encouragement.

      About the role

      This is a role with an occupational requirement of being a practising Christian.

      Main Purpose

      To plan and deliver a programme of virtual and in-person events and holidays that provide Torch clients with an opportunity to gather for fellowship, fun, relaxation and spiritual encouragement.

      Role requirements

      Main Duties and Responsibilities:

      • To ensure that the voice of blind and partially sighted people is heard in the planning and development of the Torch Together events and holidays.
      • To budget and plan for all physical and regional Torch Together gatherings.
      • To plan, prepare and deliver a virtual Torch Together programme.
      • To plan and prepare bespoke holiday programmes for each event, liaising with other key staff/Trustees involved in the delivery of these events.
      • To work closely with venues across the UK to ensure that holidays and events run as planned and aim for good guest satisfaction. 
      • To oversee the client event and holiday booking process for virtual and face to face events working closely with the Client Services team.
      • To be present at each Torch Together physical event to ensure that it runs smoothly, liaising with the venues and supporting other staff and volunteers.
      • To recruit, train, support and supervise a team of Torch Together volunteers to help deliver virtual and physical events and holidays.
      • To plan and prepare information and programmes for guests ahead of each virtual or face to face event or holiday in their preferred media.
      • Formulate, and deliver a TT marketing and communications plan for the Torch Together virtual and physical events. 
      • Prepare reports and organise, lead, facilitate or attend meetings as required.
      • Maintain adequate systems and diaries to manage the ongoing two way correspondence and activity between Torch, booked venues and the TT volunteers.
      • Collect and gather evidence of transformational stories and photographs for promotional purposes. 
      • Work closely with Client Services to gather, review and formulate feedback and satisfaction levels from people at virtual and physical events and holidays to inform future services.
      • To fully engage with Torch’s safeguarding policy and be the safeguarding lead at all virtual and physical Torch Together events.
      • Regularly update the Head of Services with progress of engagement with venues, event programmes and volunteer recruitment, training, support and engagement.
      • Fully engage with the wider life of Torch Trust, contributing to prayer meetings, being involved as appropriate with other Torch services, supporting colleagues etc.
      • Promote and support Torch’s work in their church and other contacts in order to raise awareness and support for the ministry. 
      • Undertake such other duties as the Head of Services or Chief Executive may from time to time determine.
      • This job description will be subject to review and amendment, to meet the changing needs of the organisation.

      Person Specification:

       It will be essential that you are well organised, able to plan ahead, work independently with minimum supervision and can organise your time effectively.

      You will have excellent interpersonal skills and understand how to communicate effectively, demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively with a range of different stakeholders including volunteers and trustees.

      You will be confident in I.T. and range of system processes, proactive, creative, and able to use initiative. 

      You will be reliable, always on time with a committed work ethic always looking for what is the next task.

      Able to fully support Torch’s values as a committed and practising Christian with an active personal relationship with God.

      The ability to work effectively to deadlines, meet agreed tasks and achieve demonstrable results.

      Able to confidently deliver virtual and face to face events independently or with others, is enthusiastic and has a positive can do attitude.

      You will be a team player who welcomes collaboration with their colleagues, takes on board ideas from others and can accept comments and feedback on their work.

      The ability to recruit, train, motivate and support volunteers.

      Contract and Work Pattern

      This is a permanent contract of 15 hours per week. The working pattern will be varied and include weekend / evening work as needed, together with overnight stays to meet the needs of the service.
