        Summer Internship

        Torch is offering a summer internship within the comms team. This is an exciting opportunity to experience life working in a Christian charity whilst helping us to raise awareness and build meaningful relationships with supporters.

        About the role

        Position type: Volunteer
        Hours: Minimum of 10, 7 hour days between June and September 2023
        Team: Operations
        Location: Torch House Market Harborough, some scope for home working.

         

        Torch is offering a summer internship within the comms team. This is an exciting
        opportunity to experience life working in a Christian charity whilst helping us to
        raise awareness and build meaningful relationships with supporters.
        Torch serves blind and partially sighted people in the UK and around the world
        through the provision of accessible Bibles, Christian books, support and advice over
        the phone, local groups, sight loss friendly church, holidays and on line events.
        You will have the opportunity to shadow various members of the Torch staff,
        working alongside the Supporter Development Coordinator you will work on a
        variety of comms campaigns to raise awareness of Torch’s free Pathway Bible
        offer, Sight Loss Friendly Church free training and other services for those who are
        blind and partially sighted.
        What is the commitment?
        There is plenty of flexibility but we are looking for a commitment of a minimum of
        10 days between June and September.

        Main duties and responsibilities:

        • To carry our research tasks
        • To support in preparing and managing databases
        • To create email communications
        • To create social media contact
        • To make follow up calls
        • Other tasks as agreed with the Supporter Development Coordinator

        Skills and requirements:

        • Must be a committed and practising Christian fully aligned with Torch’s values
        • Good written and oral communications skills
        • Knowledge and experience of using the internet for research and ability to use standard IT programmes such as Word, Excel etc

        Equal opportunities
        We don’t want finance to be a barrier to you participating in the summer
        internship so we are prepared to cover some expenses in return for your time.
