Announcement about Torch and Compass Braille to Torch supporters
We have some wonderful news to share with you; Compass Braille is going to be merging with Torch!
Compass Braille produces braille Bibles in over 55 languages that are largely distributed through the Bible Societies in the relevant countries. Each year they send 6,000 to 7,000 Bible volumes, all produced in a production facility in Hertfordshire. Compass Braille has suffered a sudden change in its financial circumstances with a 100% increase in its rent for the building they use, triggering a rethink about how its work might best be continued. They felt that the best option would be to seek to merge with another charity and approached Torch Trust as the most suitable option in terms of having a heart for blind people, the capability in braille production and a ministry ethos similar to their own.
Later this year, Compass Braille’s operations will be relocating to Torch House in Market Harborough and the production of braille Bibles will continue under the Compass Braille brand from there. We hope and pray that this will open up a new chapter in the production and distribution of braille Bibles and that Compass Braille’s ministry can be further grown and developed with Torch’s help.
Please do pray for all of those at Compass Braille and Torch who will be seeking to make this transition work as smoothly and efficiently as possible with minimum disruption to this vital ministry.
